Open call for the creation of a site-specific work for Ca’ Select’s new space opening in Venice.
THE
PROJECT
Next autumn, Select will be opening a new space in the heart of Venice, reinforcing the brand’s strong ties with the city.
Select has always believed in the power of graphic design and art for communicating excellence. That’s why Ca’ Select will feature a specially designed piece of work by a young talent from the contemporary art scene.
Select is therefore inviting artists and visual designers under the age of 35 to create a site-specific work for a wall in the Bar&Mixology Area of Ca’ Select. From the inauguration of the space, the artwork will then remain on display for 12 months.
OPEN CALL
Brief
The call is aimed at anybody who has a personal connection with the city of Venice. Candidates are therefore asked to interpret aspects of Venetian tradition and imagery when creating an abstract and/or figurative work with “graphic” design features.
Curation
Aurora Fonda, project curator and founder of the School for Curatorial Studies Venice, and Federica Sala, curator and design advisor, will judge the entries and work alongside the winning candidate in the realization of the artistic intervention.
Timeline
Each candidate will have to present their artistic project byJune 5th 2022.Following an initial evaluation of entries, a shortlist will be published here.Open Call’s result will be announced by June 22nd 2022.
Requirements
To take part, applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old and must complete all parts of the application form correctly.
